      Ham Peggotty is the nephew of Mr. Peggotty. A giant but simple fisherman and boatbuilder, he was an orphan and lived in the house of Mr. Peggotty. He is a huge strong fellow; six feet high, broad in proportion and round shouldered; but with a simpering boy's face and curly hair. He is deeply in love with his cousin, Emily and they are at one point engaged to be married. Afterwards he is betrothed to Emily.
