      Sir Philip Sidney he is one of the most renowned figures in the history of Elizabethan Sonnet writing. His Sonnet series astrophel and Stella registers a great advancement in English Sonnet. Astrophel and Stella is possibly written between 1580 and 1584 and published 1591. The book comprises 108 Sonnet and 11 songs depicting Sidney's deep attachment and pure love for Penelope the daughter of Earl of Essex whom he could not marry. Sidney pined for her and expressed his sincere devotion to the lady in his Sonnet sequence.
