      The term Novel has come from the Italian word 'novella'. It has its origin in the mediaeval romance of fantastic tale of love and adventure. The word novella means a short romance and the term is used from the first time in "Decamaron" written by Boccaccio.


      Novel: - Novel as it is known today is a particular type of literature, which tells any story including a wall structured plot, characters and methodical narration. Every Novel is a kind of fiction. In English literature Samuel Richardson's novel 'Pamela' published in 1742 is known as the first English novel.
