Chapter 62: A Light Shines On My Way

At Christmas time, David On decided to visit Agnes and propose to her. It was two months since David had returned home. His aunt's observant eyes had fathomed his tender feeling towards Agnes. Miss Betsey was also aware of Agnes's love for David, though this was unknown to David. When David proposed to Agnes, she declared that she had loved him from the very beginning. She also revealed that Dora's dying wish had been that Agnes should marry David after her death.

Within a fortnight David was married to Agnes. The wedding was a quiet affair at which Traddles and Sophy and Mr. and Mrs. Strong were the only guests.
