Chapter 60: Agnes

Miss Betsey informed David that Mr. Micawber had been sending small sums of money in repayment of his debts. He had grown suddenly old.

Miss Betsey thought that Agnes was not married because she had a romantic attachment to someone. David left for Canterbury the next day. On seeing Agnes he was full of joy and love for her. But he could not express his heartfelt emotions. His joy and love for Agnes had turned him speechless. He tried to find out if she loved anyone but Agnes evaded the question. When he rode back to Dover, he felt that Agnes was not happy at his departure.
