      David and Mr. Dick became very friendly. Miss Betsey; one evening proposed to David that he should go to school in Canterbury. David was pleased with this prospect. Miss Betsey took him to Mr. Wickfield, her friend and lawyer and on his advice got David admitted to Dr. Strong's school. Since there was no accommodation available at that time of the year, it was decided that David should put up at Mr. Wickfield's house. His only daughter Agnes was to take care of him. In the evening David met Uriah Heep as well.

      Before parting from David, Miss Betsey advised him to keep away from three vices; "Never be mean in anything: never be false, never be cruel, Avoid those three vices, Trot, and I can always be hopeful of you."
