The Wilks Girls: in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn

Also Read

The deceased, Peter Wilks, is survived by three nieces. They are Mary Jane, Susan and the hare-lip, Joanne. They are simple and innocent girls who are easily taken in by the shrewd "Duke" and "King". Extremely credulous and naive, the three girls are so besotted by their "uncles" that they fail to see beyond the surface.

They feel extremely upset when the two swindlers sell off their slaves to slave-traders. When Mary Jane, the eldest niece, comes to know of the facts about her "uncles", she is livid with rage and wants to "tar and feather" them. Somehow, she manages to control herself and lets Huck salvage the situation for them.
