Technique as the Oxford Dictionary said is the manners of artistic execution or performance in relation to formal practical details. This novel is a historical novel in form and to deal with the material taken form history. Charles Dickens uses a very unique literary prose style and narrative technique. As because of the thematic structure of the novel, Dickens prose style deserve to be considered very special and uniquely employed. Like other great authors of historical fiction such as Walter Stock and Victor Hugo, Dickens also uses some technical devices in his narration.

      The most fundamental device of narration is a historical setting of a fictional plot is generally the technique of 'flashback', the technique literary means to go back. This going back in to past is a very useful technique of narration performed bye many authors. Dickens too has employed this same technique in the novel. His plot constantly moves forward and backward changing the time zone of the plot. Sometime we are taken to 1775 and at the very next moment Dickens places us in to the turmoiled condition of French revolution of 1789. So, we the leaders are constantly aware of the past and present of the plot, being reminded that Mr Mannette had and dark past which is narrated with the help of flashback technique.

      Apart from the flashback technique the sentences used in the novel are very technical but simple, producers in mind the sensation of being carried away in to world of remote past of France. The narration progress is throughout the novel interlinking the various detached episodes. And Dickens going into past and again coming back into the present reveals the wonderful technique of narration which Dickens follows through out the novel. Sometime the narrative technique also include revolution of various inner consciousness and thought process of the character including the protagonist Sydney and Darney. This is the narrative technique employed in his Novel by Charles Dickens.
